All events listed are open to all registered participants. It is strongly recommended that for any event requiring a ticket, tickets should be purchased through advance registration. Only a very limited number of tickets, if any, will be available for sale on site. If you must cancel your participation in a ticketed event, you may request a 50% refund by returning your tickets to the Mathematics Meetings Service Bureau (MMSB) by December 27. After that date no refunds can be made. Special meals are available at banquets upon advance request, but this must be indicated on the Advanced Registration/Housing Form. Note: All rooms are subject to change.

To launch the year-long festivities, the AMS invites its members and friends to a celebratory dinner. Gourmet food stations and musical accompaniment will complement the special program. Association of Christians in the Mathematical Sciences (ACMS) Reception and Guest Lecture, Thursday, 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m. The reception will take place between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a talk entitled Change of Perspective given by Mike Orrison, Harvey Mudd College, at 6:30 p.m. Students are especially encouraged to attend. Annual Reception for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered Mathematicians, Friday, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. This informal cash bar social will take place on Friday, January 11 from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. at Flicks, 1017 University Ave (near the intersection of University and 10th in the Hillcrest neighborhood). It's not a large bar, so you should have no trouble finding us inside. One may get to the bar by cab (approx. 3 miles from convention center), or take the #11 bus (Destination: SDSU) from 1st Ave. and G St (bus travels north on 1st Ave) to the intersection of University and 10th. AWM Reception: This open reception takes place on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. after the AMS Gibbs Lecture and has been a popular, well-attended event in the past. AWM will recognize all of the honorees of the Alice T. Schaffer Prize for Excellence in Mathematics by an Undergraduate Woman. Note that formal prizewinner announcements are made at the Joint Prize Session on Thursday afternoon.
